At the fourth plenary session of the Senate, the law "On Introducing Amendments and Changes to Some Legislative Acts of the Republic of Uzbekistan in Connection with the Improvement of the Family and Women Support System" was discussed.
The norms in the law regulate the protection of the rights of victims of domestic violence, prevention of recurring cases of such pressure, and issues related to mandatory placement in a dwelling.
According to this law, when disputes about the use of a dwelling are being considered, the court can decide, based on the agreement of the parties and at the initiative of the owner, to place the party being mandatorily placed into another dwelling owned by the landlord with suitable conditions, or to impose the obligation to pay the rent for a leased dwelling on the landlord.
The adoption of this document serves to strengthen the protection of rights and legal interests of individuals affected by the crime of domestic violence, and also aims to increase the activity of women.
At the end of the discussion, the law was approved by the senators.
