President Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited Samarkand on March 22 and paid a visit to the mausoleum of Imam Bukhari. The Quran was recited, and a prayer was read

– The day before, we welcomed the Navruz holiday with our people. Today, in the holy month of Ramadan, we are visiting this blessed place. We express our gratitude to the Creator for bringing us to these great days in peace and tranquility. May our country always be peaceful, our people prosperous, and all our good intentions come true. We are building this complex in a manner befitting our ancestor Imam Bukhari. Let it be a source of knowledge, education, and inspiration,– said Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

The mausoleum of Imam Bukhari is a revered site in the entire Islamic world. A new complex is being constructed here on the initiative of our President to expand conditions for the thousands of pilgrims.

The total area of the complex is 44 hectares. As of today, a magnificent mausoleum and a mosque designed for 10,000 people have been completed. Four minarets, each 75 meters high, add grandeur to the complex. Additionally, a museum, verandas, administrative and service buildings have been constructed.

Currently, finishing works are being carried out. They make use of national traditions and warm colors. Hadiths from "Sahih al-Bukhari" are being inscribed on the portals and walls of the verandas.

Furthermore, over twenty hotels with a total of two thousand beds, parks, and four ablution areas will be built in the area.

This year, the 1155th birth anniversary of Imam Maturidi will be widely celebrated in our country. The President's decree outlines the renovation and beautification of the Maturidi complex in the city of Samarkand.

During the visit, the President was presented with this project.

As noted, the Maturidi complex will include a Jami mosque for 1,500 people, and an administrative building. There will also be a library, conference hall, innovative museum, and rooms for specialists. Near the complex, a parking lot and ablution facilities will be constructed for visitors.

Imam Abu Mansur Maturidi lived during a time when conflicts surged, and various sects increased in the Islamic world, dedicating his life to defending Islamic creed and spreading knowledge. His teaching of Maturidism, works like "Ta'wilat al-Qur'an", and "Kitab al-Tawhid" became the spiritual foundation of Ahlus Sunnah wal-Jama’ah with principles of tolerance and moderation.

The head of our state emphasized that these principles are still relevant today, gave instructions to further study and promote the legacy of our great scholar, and to expand facilities for visitors to the complex.

Another noble project is aimed at improving the Mahdumi A’zam footprint in Okdaryo district. Originally born in what is now Kosonsoy district, this Sufi scholar was one of the leaders of Naqshbandi teachings. After a long journey in the path of science and religion, he found his eternal abode in the Samarkand region.

Many pilgrims visit this place. To improve conditions for them, the construction of a three-story parking lot and ablution facilities next to the Mahdumi A’zam mausoleum is planned.

Step by step, the footprints of other scholars and thinkers, and revered saints who emerged from the land of Samarkand, are being repaired and beautified.
