In Turkey, the opposition party officially announced Ekrem İmamoğlu, who is currently in prison, as a presidential candidate.
It is reported that nearly 15 million people voted for him in the Republican People’s Party primaries.
Party leader Özgür Özel emphasized that more than 14 million 850 thousand people voted for Akram.
He called on Erdoğan to hold early presidential elections and to compete against İmamoğlu in it.
Moreover, Ankara Mayor Mansur Yavaş also called for early presidential elections in Turkey due to the arrest of Ekrem İmamoğlu.
"Early elections will be exemplary for Turkey. Because creating obstacles for the opponent is not democracy. It's time for early elections. Because none of the youth have seen another government since they were born," — Yavaş said.
