President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, speaking at a people's festival in the "New Uzbekistan" park in the new city of Andijan, proposed naming the town after Bobur in honor of our great ancestor, Zahariddin Muhammad Babur, whose unique scientific and creative heritage has celebrated our nation, our people to the whole world. "I am fully confident that this initiative will wholeheartedly be embraced by our people. Because Hazrati Babur – is such a rare, magnificent figure in world history, that to honor him, it is certainly fitting not just to name streets and squares, parks and gardens after him, but to build a separate city.
Because Babur Mirza – is a worthy successor of the Timurid Renaissance, a great person who was a patron of science, culture, art, and literature.
The struggles he carried out from his youth to establish peace and justice in the country, showing bravery and courage along the way, are a school of sacrifice and patriotism.
Undoubtedly, for the sake of "Baburnama" alone, a masterpiece by this eminent ancestor of ours, who possessed encyclopedic knowledge and intellectual depth, it is certainly fitting to build such a beautiful town in his honor," - said the President.
This initiative was warmly supported by the fellow countrymen.
