At the auction held in Great Britain, an open letter sent from the ship "Titanic" was sold for a record price - 350 thousand euros. This historic letter was sent by American investor and writer Archibald Gracy IV.
In an open letter, Gracy wrote:
"This is a wonderful ship, but I will not hurry to express my opinion about it until the end of my voyage."
The auction was held at the famous "Henry Aldridge Son" house in the county of Wilshire, England. Although the starting price was £60,000, at the end of the auction, the postcard was purchased at a price five times higher - by a private US collector.
One of the few surviving passengers
Archibald Gracy IV went down in history as one of the few passengers who survived the Titanic disaster. During the disaster, he jumped out of the ship, climbed onto a lifeboat overturned in icy water, and was rescued.
Upon returning to New York, Gracy wrote a book about the ship's disaster titled The Truth About the Titanic. However, due to the physical blows she received in the cold water and health problems, she died in December 1912.
