In the framework of the informal summit of the Organization of Turkic States in Budapest, the ceremony of awarding the International Prize named after Alisher Navoi "for the contribution to the unity of the Turkic world" took place.
This year, the award was given to the distinguished Turkish biochemist, Nobel Prize laureate, Honorary Doctor of the National University of Uzbekistan, Aziz Sancar.
The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, heartily congratulated Aziz Sancar, and particularly emphasized that the awarding of this prestigious prize to a scholar of science inspires Turkic world scientists, including the youth, to conquer new heights.
The prize of the Organization of Turkic States named after the great thinker and state figure Alisher Navoi was established in 2021 on the initiative of our country's leader. It is awarded biennially for a special contribution to the promotion of Turkic culture, the maintenance of peace, security, consolidation of trust, and furthermore, for expanding cooperation between Turkic peoples in various fields.
The award was given for the first time in 2022 to the late Kyrgyz writer and public figure, Chingiz Aitmatov.
