According to the Ministry of Ecology, air pollution in the capital may intensify in the coming days. This is due to winds blowing from the eastern part of Navoi and southern Kazakhstan.

On September 22, Tashkent ranked first in the world for air pollution. At 17:15, an AQI of 556 was recorded, which indicates a "hazardous" level. By the afternoon of the following day, the index had decreased to 135.

According to the Ministry, strong winds carried dust lifted from the Kyzylkum and around the Aydar Lake towards the capital. As a result, PM2.5 levels in the city were recorded at 4–5 times above the norm. Experts emphasize that on September 23–24, the levels may rise again in the morning and evening.

Only on the night of September 24, with the arrival of a new cyclone, is the air expected to clear quickly.
