An attempt to smuggle approximately 800 grams of opium by employees of the Samarkand regional customs department was exposed. A criminal case has been initiated regarding the incident.

According to reports, employees of the Anti-Smuggling Department and the "Jartepa" border customs post inspected one of the passengers arriving from a neighboring country on suspicion. A scan revealed that 3 packages were hidden in the woman's internal organs.

When the packages were opened with the participation of doctors, a total of 255 grams of opium substance was found inside them. Her accompanying husband was also promptly detained and examined at a medical institution.

During the examination, 4 packages were extracted from the man's internal organs, and it was determined that they contained 541 grams of opium. As a result, an attempt to bring in a total of 796 grams of opium substance using the "body container" method was prevented, and investigative actions are ongoing.
