More than half of Uzbek fans who planned to watch World Cup matches from the stands have been denied the opportunity to obtain a US visa. This was reported by the BBC.
According to the publication, a large portion of fans from certain countries participating in the World Cup have been denied the chance to attend the tournament due to visa rejections or existing travel restrictions.
The analysis covered the period from October 2024 to the end of September 2025. Therefore, applications submitted during the subsequent eight months were not included in the report.
The report analyzed data on citizens from 11 countries: Ecuador, Egypt, Haiti, Algeria, Uzbekistan, Cape Verde, Jordan, Iran, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Ghana, and Senegal.
According to the results, the highest rejection rate was recorded in Senegal. Approximately 80 percent of citizens from that country were denied visas. The next positions were held by Ghana and the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
The analysis also noted that more than half of Uzbek fans were denied the opportunity to obtain a US visa.
For reference, the Uzbekistan national team will play its first match in the World Championship on June 18 against Colombia. The match will take place at the Azteca Stadium in Mexico City at 7:00 AM Tashkent time.
After that, the team led by Temur Kapadze will face Portugal on June 23 and the Democratic Republic of the Congo on June 27.
