The famous pilaf characteristic of the Chust district of the Namangan region — Chust oshi — has been granted geographical indication status. This was reported by the Ministry of Justice in a statement.
It is noted that Chust oshi stands out not only for its unique taste but also for its centuries-old culinary traditions. The distinctiveness of the dish is linked to the region's microclimate, the meat of black rams raised on wormwood and wild herbs, as well as the soft spring waters of the Govasoy and Kosonsoy basins.
According to the Ministry of Justice, the geographical indication status allows for the legal protection of the name of Chust oshi and its traditional preparation technology.
Furthermore, this status confirms the product's compliance with established quality standards and serves to promote the region's gastronomic brand on an international scale.
Let us recall that previously, "Andijan devzira oshi" was also entered into the state register as a geographical indication.
