Six people were killed when two helicopters collided mid-air in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Local and international media report that American singer Oliver Tree may be among the victims.
According to reports, the tragedy occurred on June 14th in the skies over the Recreio dos Bandeirantes district of Rio de Janeiro. Initial information indicates that the two helicopters collided mid-air and crashed to the ground.
One of the helicopters had five passengers on board, while the other carried only the pilot. All of them died as a result of the incident.
Citing police sources, media outlets report that among the victims was 32-year-old American singer and songwriter Oliver Tree. He is said to have arrived in Brazil as part of a world tour.
It has also been reported that among the deceased are a Brazilian music producer, an Argentine video director, and YouTube blogger Gaspar Prim.
After the collision, both helicopters crashed onto the premises of an electric vehicle dealership. A fire broke out as a result of the incident, damaging several dozen cars.
Currently, law enforcement agencies and emergency services are investigating the causes of the tragedy. As part of the investigation, technical malfunction, human error, and possible mistakes in flight coordination are being considered.
Officials say the process of identifying the victims is ongoing. Due to severe burns on the bodies, additional forensic examinations have been ordered.
