During operational activities conducted in the Surkhandarya region, over 37 kilograms of narcotic drugs smuggled from Afghanistan into Uzbekistan were detected, and their distribution was prevented. This was reported by the State Security Service.
It is noted that as a result of an operation carried out jointly by the State Security Service and Internal Affairs officers, the smuggling of 25 kilograms 444 grams of opium and 11 kilograms 86 grams of hashish from Afghanistan into the country was uncovered.
Subsequently, a controlled operation was conducted to identify the individuals receiving the narcotics. As a result, after the shipment was delivered to Samarkand city, two local and two foreign citizens were detained at the time of receiving it.
In another operational activity, two Afghan citizens were caught at the Termez International Trade Center while attempting to sell 1 kilogram 76 grams of opium for 5,000 US dollars.
During the investigation, it was established that they used their own bodies, particularly internal organs, to secretly bring the narcotics into the country.
Criminal cases have been initiated under relevant parts of Articles 246 and 273 of the Criminal Code regarding these incidents. The suspects have been placed in custody as a preventive measure, and investigative actions are ongoing.
