Requirements that employers must fulfill to protect employees working outdoors in the anomalous hot weather conditions observed in Uzbekistan have been announced. This was reported by the Labor Inspectorate.

It was noted that in high temperature conditions, the risk of heatstroke, dehydration, fainting, and cardiovascular diseases increases among employees. In this regard, employers must adapt working conditions to seasonal climate requirements.

In particular, it is recommended to reduce or temporarily stop outdoor work from 11:00 to 16:00, and to limit heavy physical labor. Additionally, employers are required to continuously provide employees with clean drinking water, shaded or cool rest areas, and to issue them with breathable, lightweight, and heat-protective special clothing.

According to the Labor Inspectorate, employees assigned to work in hot conditions must have undergone a preliminary medical examination. Furthermore, they must be informed about the signs of heatstroke, and an employee whose health deteriorates must be immediately moved to a cool place and given first aid.

The Inspectorate emphasized that these requirements are not advisory in nature, but constitute a legal obligation of employers.

Let us recall that earlier it was reported that 447 workplace accidents occurred in Uzbekistan between January and June 2026. Of these, 113 were fatal, resulting in the deaths of 137 people.
