At the event, the head of state sincerely congratulated those gathered on the Independence Day and emphasized that the selfless labor of the people is of decisive importance in the country's development.
“35 years – a very short period for history. But it would be no exaggeration to say that the years left behind have been a period worthy of a century in terms of their scale, achievements, and results,” said Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
According to the President, over the past ten years, more than 160 billion dollars in foreign investment has entered the country. During this period, the size of the economy has increased more than 2.5 times. It is planned to increase the gross domestic product to over 180 billion dollars by the end of this year.
It was also noted that 5 million 700 thousand permanent jobs have been created in industry, services, and agriculture.
With the participation of the state and private sector, schools with 1.5 million places, preschool educational institutions with 342 thousand places, and hospitals with 62 thousand beds have been built. 83 thousand kilometers of internal roads have been constructed and repaired. For the first time, centralized drinking water has been delivered to households where 8 million people live, and water supply for another 11.5 million people has been improved.
In the last ten years, 650 thousand families have received new housing.
“The biggest result of New Uzbekistan is a changed person, a citizen who believes in their own strength, and a society that feels a stake in tomorrow,” said the President.
At the event, it was announced that 558 compatriots who are making a worthy contribution to these changes were awarded honorary titles, orders, and medals on the occasion of the 35th anniversary of Independence.
Among those awarded are dedicated people who have worked productively for many years in various fields.
Rustam Sultonov, who has contributed to construction work in Khorezm region for many years and today leads the veterans, and Abdusattor Qurbonov, a labor veteran who devoted his life to developing deserts and farming in Surkhandarya, were also awarded state honors.
Gulomjon Turonov, who has been working as a steel smelter at the Bekabad Metallurgical Plant for many years, was awarded the honorary title “Honored Industry Worker of the Republic of Uzbekistan.”
The labor of Ilhom Ziyovuddinov from Namangan, who achieved high results in cotton growing and grain farming and created his own school; Jamila Khudoyberdieva from Bukhara, who is achieving high yields in silkworm breeding; Esenbay Aitmuratov from Karakalpakstan, who is introducing advanced technologies in livestock breeding and developing pedigree animal husbandry; and Samarkand irrigator Aslankul Karimkulov, who is contributing to reducing water losses and introducing energy-saving systems, was also duly recognized.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev emphasized that each of those awarded is making a worthy contribution to the country's development and expressed gratitude to them.
“I know very well the difficult labor path of each of you, your achievements, and the worthy contribution you are making to the development of our country,” said the head of state.
At the end of the ceremony, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev solemnly presented the state awards to their recipients.
