Today, on October 21, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev sent greetings to the participants of the World Summit «Investing in Children's Well-Being: The Path to Sustainable and Equitable Development of Future Generations» being held in Samarkand. This was reported by the President's press service.
The head of state stressed that children's well-being, their safety, and access to quality education and medical care must be a priority in the policy of every state.
According to Mirziyoyev, as a result of reforms in Uzbekistan, in recent years preschool education coverage has increased from 27.7 percent to 78 percent, and higher education coverage from 9 percent to 45 percent. Over the past five years, child poverty has declined nearly fourfold. In addition, the number of inclusive schools has increased fivefold, and more than 85 percent of children with disabilities have been enrolled in education.
The President also stressed that all orphans and children deprived of parental care are being raised in a family environment. In his opinion, in order for every child to grow up in an environment based on love and care, it is necessary to support families in a timely manner.
The head of state proposed expanding international cooperation on the early detection and treatment of serious childhood diseases, in particular pediatric oncology. He also noted the importance of protecting children from cyberbullying, exploitation, and the unlawful use of personal data, and creating a safe digital environment.
Mirziyoyev said that it is also necessary to take into account children's opinions in decision-making processes that concern them. He proposed establishing the Samarkand Platform as a mechanism for exchanging experience, developing joint projects, and advancing international cooperation aimed at ensuring children's well-being.
The President stressed that the initiatives announced at the summit must be followed up with concrete plans and practical actions, and that the results must be felt in children's lives.
