President Shavkat Mirziyoyev congratulated the people on the occasion of 21 October — the Day of the Uzbek Language. In the head of state’s congratulatory message, he touched upon respect for the state language, improving literacy in education, expanding the opportunities of the Uzbek language in the digital environment and issues of writing. The President’s press service reported this.

Mirziyoyev emphasized that state bodies should be an example to others in their attitude toward the language.

"State bodies must be an example in this regard. Laws, decisions, instructions and replies to appeals must be written in fluent, clear and understandable language. A citizen must not encounter unnecessary difficulties in understanding his or her rights or obligations. Respect for the state language must also be reflected in the quality of public service," the congratulatory message says.

According to the head of state, in education the main focus should be on students’ skills of reading, comprehension, speaking and literate writing. It is necessary to distinguish between the needs of children learning Uzbek as their native language and students mastering it as the state language, and to take this into account when updating textbooks and teaching methods.

It was also emphasized that it is important to expand opportunities to use modern scientific sources in the Uzbek language and to present research results. In particular, it was noted that there is a need for reliable literature, high-quality translations and electronic resources in medicine, engineering, economics and other fields.

Mirziyoyev also stated the need to expand opportunities for the full use of the Uzbek language in the digital environment.

"Another urgent task — we need to expand opportunities for the full use of the Uzbek language in today’s digital environment as well. For this, collecting high-quality texts and speech samples and developing electronic dictionaries, translation and editing tools are of particular importance," the congratulatory message says.

At the same time, it was emphasized that it is necessary to develop technologies that convert speech into text and text into voice, and to protect copyright and personal data when creating such resources.

"The quality of artificial intelligence tools in the state language is assessed by how accurately and usefully they help people," said the head of state.

The President noted that convenience for people should also be the main criterion in matters of writing and spelling. Solutions in this regard must rely on a scientific basis, dialogue with the public and practical preparation; coherence between education, publishing houses and digital systems, as well as the needs of different generations, must be taken into account.

It was also emphasized that it is important to encourage interest in learning and researching the Uzbek language abroad. In particular, it was noted that areas of cooperation such as the "Uzbek Studies Program" at Oxford University can serve international communication in the field of language and translation.

At the end of the congratulation, Mirziyoyev expressed gratitude to scientists, teachers, translators, writers, journalists, publishers and information technology specialists working for the development of the Uzbek language.
