The death toll from the severe flooding in northern Nepal has reached 469. Hundreds of people are missing, including about 500 foreign citizens. This was reported by TASS, citing the country's police.
The report of local law enforcement agencies noted that the bodies of 469 people were found, and 1,545 people were injured and rescued.
Search and rescue operations are currently ongoing in the area. A total of 13,295 security service personnel from the Nepalese Army, armed police forces, and police have been involved in the operation.
Let us recall that a severe flood hit northern Nepal in the early morning of August 26. According to preliminary data, the disaster was caused by a snow and rock avalanche on the Nepal-China border, approximately 20 kilometers northeast of the Rasuwagadhi border crossing point.
