According to data, one of the most dangerous active regions in recent years has been recorded by the Solar Orbiter spacecraft.
Scientists note that this region resembles active region number 3664, observed in May 2024, in terms of its size and location on the solar disk. The powerful flares that occurred at that time triggered the strongest magnetic storm in the last 20 years.
Experts believe that the most powerful solar flares in history have occurred precisely in large active regions.
It is noted that after about a week, these spots will begin to be visible from Earth. After another week, they may reach the most dangerous point relative to Earth — directly facing it.
At the same time, scientists indicate that it is not out of the question that solar activity may change sharply within two weeks, or the spots may disappear entirely.
