“On the establishment of the Climate Council under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan” the Presidential Decree was adopted. This was reported by the “Legal Information” channel on Telegram here.
According to the decree, the Climate Council will be established under the auspices of the president. The Climate Council is considered the highest advisory body on mitigating the consequences of climate change and adaptation to it, operating under the president.
The main tasks of the Climate Council include monitoring the fulfillment of Uzbekistan's obligations stemming from the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change and the Paris Agreement.
The National Center for Green Transformation and Adaptation to Climate Change has been renamed the National Climate Change Center (Climate Center).
To enhance scientific and academic potential and develop fundamental research, the Climate Science Forum (Climate Residency) will be established at the University of Environmental and Climate Studies in Central Asia (Green University).
