As a result, the patient may experience severe complications related to diarrhea, abdominal bloating, weakened immunity, and other disorders of intestinal activity.

The Press Service of the Ministry of Health provided recommendations by Sevara Ubaydullaeva, the head of the department for the development and implementation of Clinical Protocols and Standards, on what to do to restore the intestinal microflora after taking antibiotics. here.

— After finishing a course of antibiotics, it is necessary to include probiotics and prebiotic-rich products in the diet, — the specialist says. Probiotics are live microorganisms that help fill the intestine with beneficial bacteria, while prebiotics are a source of nutrition for beneficial bacteria, aiding in their proliferation.

Such beneficial bacteria are abundant in products like yogurt, kefir, sauerkraut, cheese, bananas, onions, and garlic.

To restore the intestinal microflora, it is recommended to limit the consumption of processed, semi-processed foods, fatty foods, sugar, alcohol, and coffee. Additionally, it is important to drink enough water, consume more fruits and vegetables, whole grains, protein, especially those products rich in Vitamin C.

To strengthen the weakened immune system as a result of taking antibiotic medications, it is advisable to sleep for at least 7-8 hours, engage in sports, and avoid harmful habits.

The intestinal function of patients who follow these rules typically fully recovers within 1.5-2 months.

If complications after the course of antibiotics persist for longer than this period, consult a doctor.
