The head coach of the Uzbekistan national boxing team, Tўlqin Qilichev, commented on his disciples' successful participation in the Olympic Games held in Paris expressed his thoughts.
“What's the secret behind the victories? I believe it's in unity. We worked day and night, every day. We appointed a separate coach for each athlete. We had no right to make mistakes. If we look into the root of success, attention came from the top, from the president. Everything we asked for was prepared for us.
I, on the other hand, devised a plan for each coach to fulfill his duties. For example, I told the Cuban coach that the evening training in the field was his responsibility, and the cardio coach was responsible for the daytime training. Every coach worked with all their heart. They performed their duties at a high level. I monitored each coach.
I had complete confidence in the boys as well: we have preserved the Uzbek mentality, customs and traditions – everything. We are ready for anything for our country, our relatives, for our families. The boys gave it their all. I enjoyed the training sessions”, said Qilichev in an interview with “Victor Yalymov’s boxing studio” YouTube channel.
We remind that in the 2024 Olympics, Uzbekistani boxers won five gold medals. Hasanboy Dusmatov (up to 51 kilograms), Abdulmalik Halakov (57), Asadkhuja Muydinkhujaev (71), Lazizbek Mullajonov (92), and Bakhodir Jalolov (92+) took the highest position on the podium in the competition.
