"The presidential decree on celebrating the 1200th anniversary of Imam Tirmidhi's birth has been adopted. The Ministry of Justice's press service reported this.
According to the decree, the 1200th anniversary of Imam Tirmidhi's birth will be widely celebrated in October 2024. A program of measures for celebrating the event at a high level will be approved.
Among other things, it is planned to prepare and publish a multi-volume academic translation and commentary of Imam Tirmidhi's works "Ash-Shama'il al-Muhammadiyah" and "Sunan at-Tirmidhi", relying on the Maturidi creed and Hanafi madhhab.
Moreover, an international scientific-practical conference on the theme "Islam — the Religion of Peace and Goodness" will be held in Tashkent in October 2024. As part of this, an international scientific-practical symposium on the topic "The place of Imam Tirmidhi's scientific heritage in Islamic civilization" will take place in Termez.
In September-October 2024, the Termez State University and the Uzbekistan International Islamic Academy will host a republic scientific-practical conference on the topic "The scientific-spiritual heritage of Termezian scholars: past and present", as well as a competition of scientific articles related to the life and scientific activity of Imam Tirmidhi.
The Administration of Muslims of Uzbekistan is recommended to conduct a competition among imams, preachers, and students of religious educational institutions on "Knowledge of hadiths from the works of Imam Tirmidhi" and to appropriately reward the winners.
