Starting January 1, 2025, in Uzbekistan, a portion of the Value Added Tax (VAT) paid by public catering enterprises will be refunded as cashback. This was announced by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev during a meeting with entrepreneurs on August 20th he confirmed.

The president acknowledged in the meeting that the biggest problems for the general catering and hotel services sector are VAT and payroll management.

“Therefore, from January 1, a part of the VAT for general catering companies will be refunded to the entrepreneur as cashback. In this case, companies conducting 60 percent of their monthly turnover in non-cash transactions will receive an immediate refund of 40 percent of the VAT paid. If the non-cash turnover is less than 60 percent, the cashback will be 20 percent,” said the head of state.

Furthermore, restaurants and cafes that switch to paying VAT will see their income tax halved. Starting December 1, these companies will not need any documents when accounting for agricultural products purchased in cash. They will also be allowed to set up tables, chairs, and umbrellas on adjacent areas during the spring and summer seasons.

Restaurants and cafes will be able to sign short-term, simplified labor contracts with their employees. Similarly, from October 1, hotels and tour operators will also receive a cashback of 20 percent of the paid VAT.

It was previously reported that industrial enterprises exceeding their electricity and gas consumption limits by up to 20 percent would still benefit from the base tariff. Should the consumption exceed 20 percent, the additional amount will be charged at 20 percent more, it was reminded.
