It is reported that a kindergarten in Surkhandarya has no drinking water, and even the trees are drying up. An appeal has been received by the Children's Ombudsman.
Surkhandarya resident A.N. (male) states in his appeal that his underage child attends a preschool institution in the Kumkurgan district, and although the kindergarten building was recently constructed, it lacks drinking water, doesn’t have cooling systems, the rooms get excessively hot during summer days, which is dangerous for the children's health, and also, all the trees in the facility courtyard have dried up due to a lack of irrigation.
Upon the request of the Children's Ombudsman, this situation was investigated by the Prosecutor's Office of Surkhandarya region.
During the investigation, the situation described in the appeal was confirmed, and subsequently, 4 refrigeration units were installed in the rooms of the preschool institution.
In addition, a special facility with a capacity of 4 tons for storing drinking water was provided and filled with clean drinking water for the kindergarten.
At the same time, due to the lack of water for irrigation and landscaping in the area where the institution is located, it was announced that the trees would be watered with water brought in by special machinery.
Funds have been allocated from the regional budget for the 2024 expenses plan for this state preschool institution, including laying a clean drinking water pipe from a distance of 980 meters to supply the kindergarten with clean drinking water, with the Prosecutor's Office of the region monitoring the execution of this plan.
The Children's Ombudsman will continue to monitor the situation.
