From January to July, the country imported natural gas worth 983.7 million dollars. The figure for the same period last year was 201 million dollars. The Statistics Agency reported this.
It is noted that Uzbekistan imported gas worth 174.2 million dollars in July. This is 174 times more than in July 2023. That is, in July last year, 1 million dollars worth of gas was purchased from abroad.
This year, from January to July, the country imported natural gas worth a total of 983.7 million dollars. During the same period in 2023, this figure was 201 million dollars. That is, the expense for gas imports over 7 months is almost 5 times more than in the same period last year.
According to the statistical figures, this year Uzbekistan spent the following amounts on gas imports:
- In January — 35.6 million dollars;
- In February — 131.1 million dollars;
- In March — 193.6 million dollars;
- In April — 102.6 million dollars;
- In May — 108.4 million dollars;
- In June — 166.3 million dollars.
After Uzbekistan began increasing the volume of gas imports from Russia, it was predicted that the amount of gas purchased from abroad this year could reach a record high. According to the figures for the past 7 months, this prediction turned out to be correct. For comparison, throughout the entire year of 2023, the republic imported gas worth 694.9 million dollars, while in 2022, it imported gas worth 281.9 million dollars.
