On the 10th to 14th of September, military personnel from the Air Forces of Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, along with air defense specialists, are participating in the international rapid-tactical command-staff training exercises “Open Sky-2024” taking place.

The exercises aim to enhance coordination between the military command and control bodies of the friendly countries, develop issues of joint use of air defense forces and means, and provide practical skills for commanders in managing military units in specific combat situations, according to a statement disseminated by the Kazakhstan side.

Helicopters on the front, army and military transport aircraft, as well as air defense forces and means are participating in them. During the exercises, air force pilots are flying in the airspace of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan.

– We regularly conduct such exercises. They offer practical experience to the military personnel of friendly countries in jointly fulfilling air defense missions, coordinating combat crews, and also provide an opportunity to enhance our countries' defense capabilities, – said Lieutenant General D. Kosanov, Commander of the Air Defense Forces of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

A distinctive feature of the exercise was the development of interaction protocols for air defense combat crews with command posts and control points of neighboring states (Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan) in case of state border or border rule violations.
