Earlier on social networks, videos had spread showing relatives of a woman in a maternity hospital breaking a window and demanding money for her release. The Bukhara Health Department commented on the situation.
It was reported that on October 6 of this year, at around 10:00 AM, a woman M.I., residing in the “Joyrabod” MCA area of Shofirkon district, gave birth to a son naturally.
Within 2-3 days after the birth, following the existing national vaccination calendar, the newborn was vaccinated against hepatitis B and tuberculosis (BCG).
On October 9, after the tuberculosis vaccination, the baby showed signs of distress. Despite the existing standards specifying that the baby should be under medical supervision for 1-2 days after receiving the vaccine, M.I., under her father-in-law’s insistence, asked to be discharged.
The medical staff of the maternity section informed that the patient could not be discharged.
After that, M.I.'s close relatives (her father-in-law and husband) caused a disturbance, citing that the maternity hospital staff demanded money, and broke the entrance door of the facility.
That day, the patient and her baby were taken home in a satisfactory condition at around 11:00 PM, based on the strict demand of her relatives.
Currently, pre-investigation inquiries are being conducted by law enforcement agencies regarding this situation.
