A new virus is spreading in kindergartens and schools in Russia.

The population of several Russian regions has blamed Russian tourists who returned from Turkey for the spread of the infection.

Reports of children in kindergartens and schools in Russia's Krasnodar region, as well as in Moscow and Vladimir regions, having been infected with the Coxsackie virus have been frequently reaching Rospotrebnadzor reports indicate.

The populations of the aforementioned regions have been complaining about the spread of the infection, blaming Russian tourists who could have brought Coxsackie from Turkey.

“Following reports of Coxsackie virus detections in the regions, Rospotrebnadzor took control over the enforcement of morning sanitation protocols in schools and kindergartens”, the department's press service reported.

Inspections include checking for symptoms such as fever, cough, runny nose, and similar illness indicators. If these are found, the child will be isolated from the group until recovery.

“Rospotrebnadzor draws the attention of parents whose children show clinical signs of the disease to seek medical attention immediately”, the report states.

The agency also reminded of the necessity to adhere to personal hygiene rules to prevent diseases.

  • Coxsackie — is a disease characterized by the appearance of fever and rashes. The source of the virus is exclusively human, specifically, an ill person or an asymptomatic carrier. The virus often affects young children through water, food, contaminated toys, and hands.
