A video showing a stabbing incident of an Uzbek driver at the Kazakhstan-Uzbekistan border circulated on social networks.
The Ministry of Transport provided official information regarding the situation.
It was reported that on November 3, 2024, an incident occurred at the "S. Najimov - Kazigurt" border checkpoint between the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Republic of Kazakhstan (Kazakhstan's Turkestan region, Saryagash district), as well as the situation of congestion of freight vehicles at the "Kurmangazy" border crossing point towards the city of Astrakhan (Russia) was discussed in negotiations with the Ministry of Transport of the Republic of Kazakhstan and other relevant agencies.
In the negotiations, the Kazakh side informed that the incident involving harm to the Uzbek driver was under the control of the relevant authorities, and that investigation operations were currently being conducted by the police department of Turkestan region, Saryagash district, and a case was initiated under Article 293 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan, with the suspect being a citizen of Kazakhstan being searched for.
Regarding the situation of congestion of vehicles at the "Kurmangazy" border crossing point, the Kazakh side is taking all relevant measures to prevent it.
