Earlier, reports had spread on social networks that 7 traffic police officers in Kashkadarya were sentenced for taking bribes. The Ministry of Internal Affairs Traffic Safety Department announced that not seven, but four traffic police officers were among the convicts. Moreover, they were dismissed from the internal affairs bodies before the criminal case was initiated.
darakchi.uz became acquainted with the verdict issued by the Koson district court on criminal cases.
Among the convicts were a 32-year-old traffic police inspector, a 36-year-old ordinary employee of the quarantine enforcement team, inspectors of the 1st readiness group of the traffic police special squad ages 31, 29, and 31, a 34-year-old inspector of the "Umakay" quarantine checkpoint, and a 33-year-old unemployed citizen.
It turns out, over several months, officers of the Internal Affairs let trucks loaded with scrap metal pass through the "Umakay" post without checks and paperwork, thereby bypassing the approved plan to combat the illegal circulation of metal. For this, inspectors received bribes ranging from 100 thousand to 5 million som through direct payments, third parties, or by transfers to bank cards.
The court also found that each of the convicts worked in separate services, none of them were subordinate to each other, some did not personally know or communicate with each other. The court announced that there were no signs of an organized criminal group in the case.
Although the convicts did not plead guilty in court, facts of receiving bribes were proven.
The court found the convicts guilty of committing the crime under Article 210 of the Criminal Code (bribery). Three of them were sentenced to 5 years, and four to 3 years of imprisonment. They will serve their sentences in a general regime colony.
Furthermore, the convicts were deprived of the right to hold positions related to administrative and financial responsibilities in state or public organizations for 2 years.
Additionally, a total of 20.2 million soms in bribes received by the convicts will be recovered in favor of the state revenue.
