The U.S. government extended the application period for the "Diversity Immigrant Visa Program — DV" (Green Card) until November 7 at 21:00. This was announced on the organization's official website here.
Previously, the application period was set to start on October 2 and end on November 5.
Each year, the U.S. government allocates a certain number of visas granting the right of permanent residence within the scope of the "Diversity Immigrant Visa Program — DV". Visas are distributed among six geographical regions based on U.S. immigration figures from the last five years. Regions with lower immigration rates to the U.S. are allocated a higher number of visas.
Applicants for the visa are selected through a computer-generated random lottery drawing. Being selected in the lottery gives the individual the opportunity to proceed to the next stages of the application process for an immigration visa.
Up to 55,000 Diversity Immigrant Visas (DV) will be allocated for the year 2026. Registration for the DV program is free, but selected candidates will need to pay a visa fee before submitting the official visa application when invited for an interview.
