The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, on November 11, received Saudi Arabia's Energy Minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman Al Saud and Investment Minister Khalid al-Falih in Riyadh during the extraordinary Arab-Islamic summit held there.
Issues of implementing joint investment projects and expanding practical cooperation in the field of "green" energy were discussed.
The head of our state specifically expressed his satisfaction with the establishment of effective cooperation with the leading "ACWA Power" company, which is actively participating in the modernization of Uzbekistan's energy sector based on direct investments and advanced technologies.
Special attention was paid to the issues of accelerating the construction of wind and solar power stations in our country's regions, as well as projects for the production of "green" hydrogen.
An agreement was reached on attracting Saudi Arabian companies and consultants to the processes of localization and increasing the energy efficiency of enterprises in Uzbekistan.
The volume of mutual trade turnover, the scope of cooperation, and the number of flights are increasing. By the end of this year, it is expected to attract nearly 2.5 billion dollars of investments from Saudi Arabian companies to our country.
The importance of promoting prospective projects in the fields of "green" energy, health care, modernization of transport infrastructure, heating and water supply, rural and residential communal services was emphasized.
In this regard, the necessity of thorough preparation for the upcoming meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission to be held in Tashkent was noted.
