Today, Uzbekistan's newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ravshanbek Alimov visited the capital of Turkmenistan, reports "Dunyo" news agency.
He served as the chairman of the Committee on International Relations, Foreign Economic Relations, Foreign Investments, and Tourism of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis in 2020-2024.
The 58-year-old diplomat graduated from the N. Bauman Moscow State Technical University, the Academy of State Administration under the President of Uzbekistan, and Georgetown University (USA).
He began his career in 1990 at the regional level within the system of the Ministry of Foreign Economic Relations (currently the Ministry of Investment, Industry and Trade). Later, he worked in positions such as the head of the department in the Administration of the President of Uzbekistan, the Secretariat of the Prime Minister, and the Ministry of Macroeconomics and Statistics. From 2002–2008, he served as Uzbekistan's ambassador to Ukraine, concurrently accredited to Moldova, and as ambassador to France, concurrently accredited to Portugal.
Ravshanbek Alimov has been in the MFA system since 2008. Over the years, he has served as an advisor at the embassy in Moscow, head of the department and head of the division in the central apparatus.
In 2020, he was elected as a senator. Ravshanbek Alimov, the chairman of the International Relations, Foreign Economic Relations, Foreign Investments, and Tourism Committee of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, was appointed to replace Akmal Kuchkorov, who served as Uzbekistan's ambassador to Ashgabat in 2016-2024.
The newly appointed ambassador speaks English, French, Russian, and Ukrainian fluently.
