On December 24, the Cabinet of Ministers of Uzbekistan signed a decision to support the export potential of sunflower seed producers. The Ministry of Justice  reported this.

According to the document, starting from December 20, all entrepreneurs, regardless of their organizational-legal form, were allowed to export sunflower seeds outside the customs territory of Uzbekistan.

The decision applies to white sunflower seeds (HS code 1206 00 990 0) and seeds with a grey shell marked with white stripes (HS code 1206 00 910 0).

In May 2022, a presidential decree introduced restrictions on the export of sunflower and vegetable oil, as well as sunflower seeds and other oilseeds.

In March 2024, the government slightly eased restrictions on the export of sunflower and vegetable oils. Companies were allowed to export up to 50 percent of the products made from imported seeds.

On December 10, the President instructed the Deputy Prime Minister to study the proposal to lift the ban on the export of vegetable oil during a meeting.

Shavkat Mirziyoyev, during his visit to the Navoi region in November, emphasized the necessity of cultivating sunflower on a 10,000-hectare area as a repeated crop.
