Switzerland has joined the five European countries, including neighboring France and Austria, in implementing such a ban. Individuals who illegally violate the ban will be fined up to 1000 Swiss Francs (1144 USD). However, this ban does not apply to airplanes, diplomatic institutions, places of pilgrimage, and other sacred places.

It is permitted to cover the face in places of worship and other sacred places. Moreover, face covering is allowed based on health, safety, weather conditions, and local Swiss customs. Additionally, covering the face is permitted during artistic and leisure events, as well as for advertising purposes.

Exceptions allowing face covering in public places may be made if it is necessary for the exercise of freedom of expression or assembly. However, such actions must be pre-approved by the responsible state authority and must not pose a threat to public order or safety.
