Uzbekistan has taken its place among the top 5 fastest developing countries in the world in the field of gender equality.

In Tashkent, the award ceremony for the winners of the national selection round of the "Gender Equality Activist" competition was held.

On January 16 of the current year, the award ceremony for the winners of the national "Gender Equality Activist" competition's republican stage took place. The Senate Press Service reported this.  

The ceremony was opened with a congratulatory speech by Tanzila Narbaeva, the Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis.

The "Gender Equality Activist" national competition is held annually in a traditional manner, initiated by the Commission on the Issues of Gender Equality and Family matters, aiming to enhance the role of women in society, to identify and promote advanced experiences in the field, and to protect the rights and interests of women.

Issues related to the full provision of women's rights and freedoms have found their full expression in the new edition of the Constitution, the "Uzbekistan – 2030" strategy, and the Gender Equality Strategy.

The systematic measures being carried out in this direction are also widely recognized by the international community.

Specifically, Uzbekistan was noted as one of the top five fastest-growing countries in the field of gender equality in the World Bank index.

It secured a place among the top 20 best countries in the Open Gender Data Index.

In the Gender Equality and Governance Index, it rose from the 103rd to the 51st position, securing the 52nd place.

For participating in the "Gender Equality Activist" national competition, documents were submitted by 934 organizations and institutions. They were evaluated based on the contest's regulations by the Commission, resulting in winners in 10 nominations.

"The most active state body at the republican level in ensuring gender equality" – The National Guard of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

"The most active regional state body in ensuring gender equality" – The Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Karakalpakstan.

"The most active district state body in ensuring gender equality" – "Ammophos-Maxam" JSC.

"The most active regional administration in ensuring gender equality" – Khorezm region administration.

"The most active district administration in ensuring gender equality" – Sharof Rashidov district administration.

 "The most active NGO in ensuring gender equality" – The National Media Association of Uzbekistan and the "Zakovat" intellectual club NGO.

"The most active entrepreneurship entity in ensuring gender equality" – "Akbarjon Barakat" LLC.

"The best TV program aimed at promoting gender equality" – The "Adolat" national legal information center's "Juridical Clinic" show.

 "The best website or portal aimed at promoting gender equality on the Internet" – "Oyina.uz" spiritual and educational portal.

 "The best publication aimed at promoting gender equality" – "Yangi Sirdaryo" newspaper.

The winners of the competition were awarded with commemorative gifts and certificates.
