Abdulkadir Masharipov, who carried out the terrorist attack, was sentenced in 2020. However, he appealed the verdict. Consequently, the court decided that the judgments are not contrary to the law.
Masharipov was found guilty of deliberately killing 39 people and attempting to kill 79 others. In September 2020, the court sentenced him to aggravated life imprisonment 40 times and to 1368 years in prison for each charge.
The Supreme Court also reviewed the petitions of another 31 convicts sentenced to various terms in connection with the attack on the club. The verdicts against them remained unchanged.
