While speaking about the war in Ukraine, Russian President Vladimir Putin said, "If the funding and ammunition run out, the “special operation” (Russia's invasion of Ukraine) will conclude in one and a half to two months."

The Russian leader also emphasized that the sovereignty of Ukraine is almost zero today.

In 2024, Putin said that the US must stop supplying weapons to Ukraine, then the conflict would end in two to three months. He also added that he had told the then US President Joe Biden that it was necessary to stop supplying the Armed Forces of Ukraine with weapons.

In turn, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy called the decision to give Russia Ukraine's nuclear weapons in 1994 a "foolish decision."

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy called the decision to hand over Ukraine's nuclear weapons to Russia in 1994 as part of the Budapest Memorandum "foolish" and "illogical" in an interview with the Italian publication Il Foglio.

"We should not have given up our nuclear weapons. It was absolutely a foolish and illogical decision," — said Zelenskyy. According to him, such a decision was wrong for both Ukraine and all of Europe.

Zelenskyy also criticized the former US President Joe Biden. His criticism was directed at a meeting held in Switzerland between Biden and Russian President Vladimir Putin in the summer of 2021.

Earlier, Zelenskyy had discussed the matter of intensifying sanctions against Russia with the President of the European Council, Antonio Costa.

"We appreciate today's decision by the European Union (EU) to extend sanctions against Russia for another six months," — the Ukrainian President wrote.
