Ahmad al-Sharaa was declared president of the interim government of Syria, reported the country's SANA state news agency.
It was announced that the new government has abolished the Syrian constitution adopted during Bashar Assad's era in 2012.
Additionally, the interim government has disbanded the army and security services. A new agency will be established in their place to ensure the safety of citizens.
