The government decision on approving the regulation on certifying products and services according to “Halal” requirements has been adopted.
The document approves the following:
- the procedure for certifying products and services according to “Halal” requirements;
- periodic assessment of products and services certified according to “Halal” requirements.
According to the decision, an authority for certifying products and services according to “Halal” requirements will be established. In the certification of products and services according to “Halal” requirements and setting requirements for them, priority will be given to the standards adopted by the Standards and Metrology Institute for Islamic Countries (SMIIC) and recognized officially on an international scale.
Beginning May 1, 2025, products and services certified based on the requirements of the decision and the Standards and Metrology Institute for Islamic Countries standards will be allowed to be marked with the “Halal” sign.
The Uzbekistan Agency for Technical Regulation, within six months in collaboration with the Committee on Religious Affairs, is designated to accredit the certification authority for products and services according to “Halal” requirements to be established within the agency's system of state institutions, involving internationally recognized organizations. Moreover, it is required to develop and approve the standard project determining the form and size of the “Halal” sign.
The “Halal” certificate – is a document issued in accordance with the certification system rules that confirms the compliance of a certain product or service to the “Halal” standard requirements, comprising products and services allowed for consumption according to Islamic rules and norms.
