Trump signed a decree to withdraw the United States from the UN Human Rights Council. He also prohibited funding for the UN agency (UNRWA) that assists Palestinian refugees in the Middle East.
Additionally, Trump signed a decree to reconsider the US participation in UNESCO and the UN.
According to him, the UN is poorly managed and the organization is not fully fulfilling its purpose.
Following this, Israel also left the council.
"The UN Human Rights Council protects violators of human rights by allowing them to escape scrutiny and instead maligns the only democracy in the Middle East - Israel," — commented the head of Israel's Foreign Ministry.
The Minister also accused the UN Human Rights Council of "promoting antisemitism." According to him, the Council has adopted more than 100 resolutions condemning Israel.
"This represents a fifth of all the resolutions adopted by the UN Human Rights Council, which is more than those adopted against Iran, Cuba, North Korea, and Venezuela," — added the Israeli Foreign Minister.
