Due to sanctions and international isolation, Russia, whose economic relations with the West have been limited, is now forced to cooperate with Afghanistan. In particular, it has started importing carbonated drinks, energy drinks, spices, vegetables, precious stones, and metallurgical raw materials from Afghanistan. This was announced by the Russian ambassador in Kabul, Dmitry Zhirnov.

According to his words, Afghanistan is primarily exporting dried fruits and raisins to Russia. It was also emphasized that Russians are buying Afghan vegetables and grapes, although in small quantities at the moment.

«Pomegranate delivery from southern Afghanistan has been established — their size is as big as two fists. In Russia, people are starting to get acquainted with Afghan saffron, which is called the “red gold” of the East,» — the diplomat praised.

According to him, Afghanistan is also delivering chrome ores, concentrates, minerals, rubies, and emeralds to Russia.

«Russia is importing Afghan spices, carbonated and energy drinks, as well as medicinal herbs,» — Ambassador Zhirnov emphasized.

Furthermore, Afghanistan is also sending cauldrons used for cooking pilaf to Russia.

Previously, Zhirnov had reported that the trade exchange between the two countries had increased several times.

Earlier, Putin had expressed hope for developing relations with Afghanistan.
