Tajikistan has given Afghan refugees 15 days to leave the country. This was reported by the Khaama Press publication here.
According to the publication's sources, the Tajikistan government has started a campaign to arrest and deport Afghan refugees, including those who have residence permits and those waiting for their immigration applications to be reviewed
"In recent weeks, the Tajik security forces have been arresting dozens of Afghans daily, mostly men. They are being taken from their workplaces, and their families are left without information," reports Khaama Press.
It is reported that there are 13,000 citizens of Afghanistan living in Tajikistan. Most of them are former officials and military personnel who fled the country after the “Taliban” movement came to power in Afghanistan in 2021.
"Tajikistan’s mass expulsion of Afghans is part of a regional trend, with the governments of Iran and Pakistan also taking similar measures," says the report by Khaama Press.
