As the war in Ukraine escalates, the West is adopting a new strategy. The UK and France have combined forces to protect Ukraine from Russian threats. These two major nations officially announced the "Ukraine Multinational Force" coalition, aimed at controlling Ukraine's air and maritime borders.
There is one condition—Russia must cease its aggression.
French President Emmanuel Macron and UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer formally presented this initiative during a press conference in Paris. According to the plan, the coalition's headquarters will initially operate in Paris before relocating to London.
The "Coalition of Resolve" is a new military structure operating independently of NATO.
This coalition will recruit tens of thousands of European troops to protect Ukrainian cities and strategic infrastructure, particularly nuclear power plants. Previously, this plan was halted due to concerns over conflicts with NATO. Now, the UK and France have taken charge of the initiative.
What did John Healey say? UK Defense Secretary John Healey emphasized: "The Prime Minister is always prepared to send troops to Ukraine if necessary."
Will Ukrainian skies open? According to the coalition's plan, the UK and France will secure Ukraine's airspace, paving the way for the resumption of commercial flights.
Who will clear the Black Sea? Meanwhile, Turkey, Bulgaria, and Romania have taken on the task of clearing mines from the Black Sea and securing shipping routes to Ukrainian ports.
Attention! Macron separately stressed: "The France-UK coalition does not guarantee the safety of troops sent to Ukraine by other European nations."
In his closing remarks, Keir Starmer stated:
"At a time when Putin is turning away from peace, we will support the Ukrainian people even more strongly."
Once a peace treaty is signed, military instructors, logistics specialists, and other essential personnel will be sent to Kyiv. The goal is to strengthen Ukraine and assist in post-war recovery.
