The construction project of the high-speed "Tashkent – Samarkand" exclusive passenger railway has been launched.

The relevant documents required to move to the practical phase of developing the technical and economic basis of the project were signed.

As you are aware, the decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated October 10, 2023, “On the measures for fundamental reformation of the railway transport sector of the Republic of Uzbekistan” PQ-329, assigns the task of developing the technical and economic basis for the project of constructing a high-speed railway for passenger transport on the “Tashkent – Samarkand” route.

The technical and economic basis for this project is to be developed through an agreement with the consortium of companies “Korea Eximbank” using grant funds, “Saman Engineering”, “Dong Meong Engineering Consultants & Architecture Co., Ltd”, “Korea Railroad Corporation” and “Korea National Railway”.

Today, on February 14, the meeting on the issues of developing the technical and economic basis for the project of constructing a high-speed railway for passenger transport on the “Tashkent – Samarkand” route was held with the participation of the Deputy Minister of Transport Jasurbek Choriev, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of South Korea to the Republic of Uzbekistan Won Do Yon, the head of the Korea Eximbank office in Tashkent Sangjin Kang, the first deputy chairman of “Uzbekistan Railways” JSC Hikmatulla Rakhmetov, as well as responsible officials from relevant ministries and agencies and the consortium of Korean companies at the meeting.

During the meeting, the representatives of the Korean companies conducted a presentation on developing the technical and economic basis for the project.

At the meeting, the necessary documents were signed to move on to the practical phase of developing the technical and economic basis for the project.
