The Competition Committee is carrying out a series of analysis and control activities to ensure compliance with the requirements of the Law on Competition and other regulatory documents, to prevent unjustified price increases, to protect consumer rights, and to regulate the subjects of natural monopoly.
As a result of the investigations carried out during 2024, legal proceedings were initiated against business entities in more than 400 cases where the requirements of the Competition legislation were violated.
As a result of the work carried out and the instructions provided by the Committee, the recalculations ensured that nearly 200 thousand consumers were compensated close to 50 billion sums.
In particular, it was determined that "O'ZSUVTA'MINOT" JSC violated the price formation requirements specified in the Regulation approved by the Cabinet of Ministers' decree No. 239 of October 28, 2010. As a result, it was found that "O'ZSUVTA'MINOT" JSC had gained approximately 7 billion sums in excess profits, for which appropriate instructions were given and their execution was ensured.
"REGIONAL ELECTRIC NETWORKS" JSC
The company and its regional branches, by violating the requirements of the Regulation approved by the decree No. 722 of December 29, 2023, of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan, were found to have gained approximately 5 billion sums in excess profits. Accordingly, an instruction on recalculating in favor of consumers was given and its execution was ensured.
The Competition Committee continues to carry out relevant control measures in this area.
