In the city of Kogon, Bukhara region, a father-in-law who stabbed his daughter-in-law to death as a result of a mutual quarrel was sentenced to 7 years of imprisonment. This was reported by Aziz Obidov, the press secretary of the Supreme Court.
It was noted that the verdict in the murder case that occurred at the end of 2024 was announced in June of this year.
According to the case, V.K., a 68-year-old man originally born in the Tashkent region but who had lived in the city of Kogon, Bukhara region, for many years, had long-standing conflicts with some of his neighbors. Due to his consumption of alcoholic beverages, he frequently quarreled and had disagreements with his own family. In particular, V.K. also had mutual disputes with his daughter-in-law D.I., who lived with his son D.K. After a verbal altercation, the daughter-in-law went outside to clean the porch and walkways. Upon returning, she found the door locked from the inside and asked her father-in-law to open it.
However, the father-in-law rudely shouted, "Go back to wherever you came from." The daughter-in-law remained sitting on a bench outside for some time. After a while, the father-in-law opened the door and asked her to come inside. Once inside, he began arguing with the daughter-in-law again. Enraged, the daughter-in-law pushed her father-in-law away and started hitting him with a rolling pin. Under the influence of alcohol, the father-in-law grabbed a kitchen knife to defend himself and attacked the daughter-in-law. He mercilessly stabbed her in the abdomen and upper abdominal area. D.I. collapsed and crawled outside, asking neighbors for help.
Despite receiving prompt medical attention and treatment, the victim died in the hospital. During the trial, the father-in-law expressed remorse for his actions, citing his poor health and status as a pensioner, and requested a "fair" verdict.
He was charged under Article 97 of the Criminal Code (intentional homicide). The defendant was sentenced by the Kogon City Court to 7 years of imprisonment.
