The government of Russia has extended the ban on gasoline exports for companies that do not engage in gasoline production from March 1 to August 31. Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin signed the relevant decision.
The restriction does not apply to deliveries carried out by the oil product manufacturers themselves.
Officials explained the extension of the ban with the necessity to stabilize the domestic fuel market, support the oil refining industry, and combat "grey" exports.
According to Rosstat data, from February 4 to February 24, fuel prices increased several times, but on February 26, the prices of Ai-92 and Ai-95 dropped respectively by 0.33 and 0.83 percent at the St. Petersburg International Commodity-Raw Materials Exchange.
The ban on gasoline exports had been introduced in February 2024. It was initially expected to last from March 1 to August 31. The restriction banned the supply of gasoline to any countries outside the EAEU, described as maintaining a "stable situation" in the fuel market during periods of high demand.
The restrictions were temporarily lifted in May due to the saturation of the domestic market and the completion of unscheduled repair works at oil refineries that had been damaged due to Ukrainian drone attacks.
