Nearly 13 kilograms of heroin being transported in transit from Afghanistan to Russia was detected at the “Olot” border-customs post in Bukhara region. The Customs Committee reported this.

According to reports, on May 30 of this year, a cargo vehicle traveling from Afghanistan to the Russian Federation underwent customs control. During the analysis of X-ray images obtained through an inspection complex, suspicious conditions were recorded in the cargo contents.

After that, the 18.6 tons of packaged dried apricots being transported in the trailer were thoroughly inspected in the presence of witnesses. During the inspection, it was found that 13 cardboard boxes contained substances made to resemble dried apricots in appearance.

According to a forensic expert's conclusion, the total weight of these substances was found to be approximately 13 kilograms of heroin.

According to experts' calculations, the value of the confiscated narcotic substance on the international black market is estimated at up to 1.5 million dollars.

According to data from the Customs Committee, since the beginning of this year, customs authorities of the republic have stopped the illegal circulation of approximately 1.7 tons of narcotic substances in 363 cases. This figure is 461 kilograms higher than in the same period last year.
