Starting from March 20 of the current year, the use of the Temu platform will be restricted in the prescribed manner in accordance with the requirements of Uzbekistan's legislation. This was reported by the National Agency for Innovative Projects.
It is noted, by Paragraph 2 of Decree No. 885 of December 26, 2024, titled “On measures for further development of the electronic commerce sector in the Republic of Uzbekistan” issued by the Cabinet of Ministers, it is established that only legal entities – residents of the Republic of Uzbekistan can operate as electronic commerce operators, in particular as operators of electronic trading platforms.
Therefore, in the process of studying the activities of foreign electronic trading platforms providing services, it was discovered that some electronic trading platforms do not comply with the requirements of the laws and regulations of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the field of electronic commerce, retail trade, advertising, personal data protection, consumer rights protection, copyright, and related rights.
“Based on the above, in accordance with the regulatory requirements, starting from March 20, 2025, the use of foreign electronic trading platforms, in particular, the Temu platform, will be restricted in the prescribed manner,” the report says.
Furthermore, the agency has called for not placing orders on the Temu platform.
“If the order has been placed before, it is recommended to organize a refund on the platform,” the report says.
